Photo-excited time-resolved SPM is a technique for locally detecting the relaxation, transport, and recombination dynamics of nonequilibrium states generated in a sample by optical pulses, with nanoscale spatial resolution and ultrafast temporal resolution. In this talk, I will outline its basic concept and introduce our studies on photoexcited time-resolved multiprobe STM and time-resolved AFM. Through measurements of photocarriers, excitons, surface potential responses, and surface dielectric responses, I will discuss the development of multifunctional optical SPM techniques and their future prospects.
