Ionic liquid additives,Ambient fabrication of perovskite film

Ambient fabrication of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) remains challenging due to moisture-induced defects and poor film quality. Here, we demonstrate a pyridinium-based ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methyl pyridinium chloride, as an effective additive for PSCs fabricated under low-humidity ambient conditions. The ionic liquid regulates crystallization, suppresses PbI2 formation, and promotes dense, pinhole-free films with enhanced crystallinity. As a result, devices fabricated at ~20% RH achieve a power conversion efficiency of 17.24%, comparable to glove-box-processed devices and significantly higher than pristine devices. This work presents a practical strategy for ambient-air fabrication of efficient PSCs, advancing their scalable and low-cost manufacturing.
