We investigated anisotropic collective molecular dynamics in a dimer liquid crystal, CB7CB, using inelastic X-ray scattering (IXS) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Component-resolved analysis was performed to distinct contributions of flexible spacers and rigid cores to the observed anisotropy in IXS spectra.
