To understand bacteria, it is necessary not only to detect their presence but also to individually identify and characterize diverse bacterial states, including physiological condition, morphology, and motility. In this study, nanopore measurements were performed on helical Spiroplasma. Using nanopore sensing, signals originating from individual bacteria were obtained. Analysis of the acquired signals revealed the presence of multiple states with different shapes and sizes, and demonstrated that individual signals contain information on structural features characteristic of Spiroplasma.
