Recent studies have reported that fibroblasts are promoted to grow in Trp-containing aqueous solutions irradiated with oxygen radicals. Therefore, in this study, NIH3T3 (fibroblasts), MCF-10A (normal mammary epithelial cells) were treated with N'-formyl-kynurenine (NFK), and the resulting proliferation responses were investigated. Significant proliferation-promoting effects were observed at high concentrations in both NIH3T3 and MCF-10A.
