Ultrasound

Although the healing mechanism of bone fracture treatment using the low-intensity pulsed ultrasound remains unclear, the contribution of weak bone piezoelectricity have been discussed. In this study, we focused on the piezoelectric constant d14 of bone and examined the generation of shear stress by ultrasound irradiation through a simulation using a digital model of a rat pseudo-fracture (micro bone hole). Even when ultrasound was applied perpendicularly to the bone surface, shear stress generation near the hole was confirmed.
