We created microcrystals of photochromic molecules aiming to fabricate high-performance, highly integrated nano-photoelectric functional devices using photochromic materials. By applying localized excitation to these microcrystals, we measured the nano-isomerization structures generated within the crystals via their electronic properties using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), confirming the existence of isomerization microstructures. Furthermore, we experimentally verified the selective progression of isomerization due to factors such as the exit position of this isomerization microstructure and changes accompanying photoisomerization of the molecular crystal.
