Strain and temperature sensing technologies using optical fibers have been widely developed for measurement applications in harsh environments. In this study, we focused on strain and temperature sensors using multimode interference (MMI), which can be realized at low cost with simple configurations such as SMS structures. BOCDR has revealed that ZBLAN fiber has fundamentally different properties from silica fiber. We observed MMI in this fiber and investigated the strain dependence of the spectrum in the 1520 nm band.
