We theoretically analyze the Jaynes–Cummings model describing the interaction between a two-level atom and a single-mode electromagnetic field in the presence of random telegraph noise (RTN) with asymmetric mean dwell times. The time evolution of the atomic excitation probability and the average photon number, averaged over the probability distribution of the RTN, is analytically derived. Based on these results, we investigate how the asymmetry in the dwell times affects the relaxation behavior of the system.
