Steam electrolysis using solid oxide electrolysis cells SOECs has attracted significant attention because of its high efficiency achieved by high temperature operation. However the air electrode resistance in SOECs is relatively large and the development of novel air electrode materials is required. In this study a novel air electrode material LaAgMnO3 LAM was investigated for SOEC performance. It was confirmed that the LAM single phase electrode delaminated from the electrolyte under SOEC operating conditions. By contrast a composite electrode composed of LAM and yttria stabilized zirconia YSZ mixed at a weight ratio of 7 to 3 formed a stable electrode electrolyte interface without delamination.
