Aiming for wearable applications such as pulse measurement, we focused on the ferroelectric liquid crystal FLC-8O-TPFF-O7*, which possesses a small antielectric field. In this study, we fabricated film substrate cells to evaluate the piezoelectric properties of the crystalline phase of this ferroelectric liquid crystal material, which had not been previously assessed. By applying vibrations simulating human pulsations and conducting measurements, we successfully observed a clear piezoelectric response of 0.4 to 0.5 V in the crystalline phase at room temperature.
