Although the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) has significantly improved, multistep synthesis and reliance on halogenated solvents remain major challenges. In this study, we developed a new donor polymer that achieves both reduced synthetic complexity and high solubility by introducing identical alkyl side chains. The synthesized polymer can be prepared in as few as ten steps and exhibits a high PCE of approximately 17% even when processed from non-halogenated solvents.
