[16a-PA8-1] Growth and evaluation of FZ grown Ni doped spinel

Spinel (MgAl₂O₄) doped with Ni was grown by a floating zone technique (FZ). Crystals in various blue colors can be grown by adjusting the doping concentration, composition x = MgO/Al₂O₃, oxygen concentration in the ambient gas. The effects of crystal growth conditions on the color and optical absorption spectrum was evaluated using FZ grown Ni-doped spinel.
