Complex coacervates (CC) have been widely studied as a liquid–liquid phase separation phenomenon driven by electrostatic interactions between polymers. Furthermore, controlling the behavior of CC is expected to be beneficial for applications in drug delivery systems (DDS). To date, investigations of the relationship between polymer charge states and intermolecular interactions have been largely limited to static evaluations based on fluorescence observations. In this presentation, we report the results of real-time and highly sensitive evaluation of interactions between two types of polymers and the CC formation process using an extended-gate biosensor.
