We aimed for MW-class output as a pump light source for laser fusion and investigated coherent arraying of photonic crystal lasers (PCSELs). Small-area PCSELs (50–200 μm) were used as element sources, adopting a design that suppresses mode competition and achieves high optical power density. As an initial trial, we fabricated a 3×3 array of 200 μm square electrodes and confirmed a single-peak lasing spectrum and a single-lobe far-field pattern. Photonic band measurements suggest lasing at band edge B.
