We developed a digital laboratory system, namely dLab, that integrates machine learning and robotics to enable the automated and autonomous exploration of novel thin-film materials. The dLab is designed as a modular architecture that allows measurement and analysis instruments from different manufacturers to be interconnected. Experimental data are collected in a unified format (MaiML) and managed in the cloud. Leveraging cloud-based data for machine learning enables the autonomous synthesis and discovery of novel thin-film materials.
