To achieve highly efficient four-terminal Cu2O/Si tandem solar cells with efficiencies exceeding 30%, we have been working not only on improving the top cell performance but also on enhancing the optical transmittance of the top cell, which contributes to increasing the efficiency of the bottom cell. In this study, we demonstrate that the introduction of a new layer enables both high efficiency and high transmittance in the top cell. In this presentation, we will report on evaluating reflection-reduction strategies by optical simulations, the photovoltaic characteristics of cells incorporating the new layer, and the performance evaluation of practical-sized cells.
