PEDOT/PSS is widely used as a cathode material in aluminum electrolytic capacitors. However, degradation of PEDOT/PSS, such as overoxidation, can lead to loss of capacitor performance. In this study, overoxidation of PEDOT/PSS films was evaluated using cells that reproduced the capacitor's singlelayer structure. Raman scattering measurements indicated that the PEDOT/PSS film was strongly oxidized. Furthermore, the yellow product formed after overoxidation is likely a low-molecular-weight EDOT oligomer.
