The gray value of laser-excited light emission voxels is controlled to improve the visual representation of the volumetric display. The gray-value representation is achieved by optimizing a computer-generated hologram, accounting for the nonlinear relationship between the luminous intensity and the excited pulse energy in the laser-excitation volumetric display.
