This paper outlines an architecture for economically and effectively monitoring multiple infrastructures distributed over a wide area using optical fiber sensing. By directly connecting measurement optical fibers implemented in infrastructures to communication network, it becomes possible to efficiently and economically obtain valuable information for infrastructure management, such as structural health assessments and traffic analysis. As a concrete example, this paper introduces a demonstration test initiated in collaboration with infrastructure companies.
