An experimental system using a water bath was constructed to investigate the cooling effect occurring during thermoelectric power generation using a semiconductor-sensitized thermal cell (STC). Comparative experiments employing two STCs revealed that, under heating conditions, the temperature of the discharging STC tended to decrease, suggesting a cooling phenomenon attributable to an electrochemical endothermic effect.
