In Japan, iodine-125 permanent seed brachytherapy is used as a treatment for prostate cancer; however, reducing radiation-induced adverse events remains a challenge. Focusing on the antitumor effects of zinc, we proposed a novel therapy using zinc-releasing amorphous carbon films (a-C:Zn). In this study, as a fundamental evaluation, we investigated changes in the structure and surface properties of a-C:Zn films before and after immersion in cell culture medium.
