This study proposes a method to evaluate micromixer performance using lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formation. LNPs self-assemble during solvent exchange, and their size depends on the dilution rate, making particle size a sensitive indicator of local mixing conditions. An iLiNP device with a baffle micromixer was used, but an interface between the lipid solution and saline was observed at the mixer outlet, suggesting incomplete mixing. To examine spatial mixing differences, a device with three outlets perpendicular to the flow direction was developed.Around 200 µL/min, the size order of LNPs collected from the outlets was reversed, indicating a transition where baffle effects became significant. LNP size also correlated with ethanol concentration at low flow rates, demonstrating that LNP size enables quantitative evaluation of micromixer performance.
