To achieve Ag-free REBa2Cu3O7 (REBCO) superconducting wires, we investigated In2O3:Sn (ITO) as a conductive protective layer. ITO thin films were fabricated by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) wires. In O2 atmosphere, substrate temperatures above 150°C were required to achieve resistivity of 1.2-1.3×10-2 Ωcm. However, subsequent oxygen annealing increased resistivity to 3.2-9.1×10-2 Ωcm. To avoid this issue, ITO was deposited on pre-annealed YBCO wires in O2 at 150 °C. Temperature dependence of magnetization confirmed that superconducting transition was maintained after ITO deposition. Effects of various deposition conditions on YBCO superconducting properties will be discussed.
