We fabricated an InAlGaP-based red visible photonic crystal surface-emitting laser (PCSEL) operating in the 600 nm wavelength range. Under room-temperature pulsed operation (duty cycle: 0.1%), the threshold current was 440 mA, and the peak optical output was 35 mW. From the lasing spectrum, the lasing wavelength was confirmed to be 672 nm.
