This presentation reports on the second harmonic generation (SHG) characteristics of polyurea thin films fabricated by the vapor deposition polymerization method. Corona discharge enhances the SHG intensity by more than an order of magnitude compared with the as-deposited film. The SHG conversion efficiency was found to depend on the polarity of the corona discharge. We will discuss the molecular orientation mechanisms responsible for the observed differences in SHG conversion efficiency as a function of discharge polarity.
