PbTe is a high performance thermoelectric material in the mid temperature range. Due to its nonstoichiometric nature, it often exhibits Pb deficiency, which leads to a high hole concentration; thus, PbTe typically shows p type conduction. However, by controlling these intrinsic defects, n type conduction can also be achieved. In this study, we investigated the changes in thermoelectric properties induced by introducing In into PbTe, aiming to compensate for Pb vacancies post synthesis. Seebeck coefficient measurements confirmed the successful conversion to n type behavior. Furthermore, the observed change in lattice constant suggests that In atoms occupy the Pb vacancy sites.
