The electrochemical Peltier effect is a phenomenon where temperature changes occur alongside redox reactions, representing the reverse reaction of liquid thermoelectric conversion. We are developing thermal batteries, a technology analogous to liquid thermoelectric conversion. The difference between thermal batteries and liquid thermoelectric conversion lies in whether the redox reaction of the electrode active material or the redox reaction of the solution is utilized. In this study, we treated the thermal battery as an electrochemical Peltier device utilizing the redox reaction of the electrode active material and verified whether it could achieve a cooling effect.
