Time-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (TRPES) was performed to elucidate the photoexcited carrier dynamics in copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) ultrathin films grown on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) substrates. In addition to bleaching of HOMO, molecular-derived photo-excited states and negative ion states were observed. The TRPES results revealed the time evolution of each state and the ultrafast carrier dynamics at the CuPc/HOPG interface.
