Chirality at the single-molecule level has been evaluated by measuring circularly polarized emission using tunneling current induced luminescence in a scanning tunneling microscopy. On the other hand, it has been experimentally demonstrated that plasmonic emission exhibits optical asymmetry even in the absence of molecules. However, the origin of this asymmetry has remained unclear. In this study, we investigated this origin using the finite-difference time-domain method. In particular, we revealed that the optical asymmetry is strongly dependent on the geometry of the probe apex.
