Chiral hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites have attracted considerable attention as emerging functional materials that combine the structural diversity of perovskites with molecular chirality. In this study, we demonstrate control of crystal symmetry through molecular design of chiral organic cations, achieving switching from non-polar to polar space groups. We further reveal that when the chiral cations form hydrogen bonds with halogens located in the in-plane direction of the inorganic layers, chiral lattice distortions are efficiently transferred and propagated into the inorganic framework.
