In recent years, piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (PMUTs), which can be driven at low voltages, have attracted considerable attention. Compared with conventional transducers used for distance sensing, PMUTs operate at higher frequencies and are therefore expected to achieve higher spatial resolution. This study focuses on object detection based on the pulse-echo method using PMUTs. As a first step toward applying physical reservoir computing to signal processing, we investigate how differences in the material and surface conditions of reflecting objects affect the received waveforms.
