In the AI era, the importance of data continues to grow exponentially. According to IDC, the total volume of data generated worldwide is projected to triple over the five-year period from 2024 to 2029. To support this explosive data growth, it is necessary not only to increase HDD shipment volumes but also to continuously increase the capacity of data each unit can store. To achieve this, the implementation of Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) is crucial. This presentation will introduce the status of HAMR productization.
