dielectric barrier discharge

Hydrophilic powder materials exhibit high hygroscopicity, which makes their physical properties prone to change during storage and transportation. Surface hydrophobization of powders can be effectively achieved by introducing fluorine-containing functional groups, such as CF2 and CF3, onto the particle surface. In this study, in order to realize surface hydrophobization through powder treatment using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), the species generated in a DBD plasma with added CF4 gas were investigated by spectroscopic measurements.
