Our study suggests that this oscillation is fundamentally driven by a gravity-mediated surface renewal process. We hypothesize a mechanism involving the periodic formation of small molecule-anion clusters on the electrode surface, their subsequent growth, and their eventual detachment primarily due to gravitational forces. Ultimately, this study offers a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of complex nonlinear phenomena at reactive interfaces, paving the way for the rational design of electrochemical systems with tailored dynamic behaviors.
