Red and green PeQD-LEDs have achieved maximum external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) exceeding 25%, comparable to those of cadmium-based QD-LEDs. However, pure blue PeQD-LEDs still suffer from low efficiency due to large hole injection barriers caused by deep valence band levels. In this study, hole injection was improved by forming a composite film of small-sized CsPbBr3 quantum dots and an organic small-molecule host. As a result, a pure blue PeQD-LED with an EQE of 2.11% and a luminance of 37.0 cd/m² was successfully realized.
