Non-equilibrium atmospheric-pressure plasmas, particularly those involving plasma–liquid interfaces, are expected to find applications in various fields; however, the behavior in the interfacial region remains poorly understood. Electric fields associated with the generation of reactive species play an important role in the characterization of non-equilibrium atmospheric-pressure plasmas. In this study, high-time-resolved measurements of electric field strength in atmospheric-pressure nanosecond-pulsed plasma were performed using electric-field-induced second harmonic generation (E-FISH). In addition, changes in the electric field distribution associated with electrical breakdown were investigated and are reported.
