In recent years, ferroelectric nematic liquid crystals (FNLCs), which combine fluidity, high symmetry, and polar order, have been discovered, attracting considerable attention for their nonlinear optical properties. In this study, by combining a uniform alignment technique based on pretilt control with second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements, the nonlinear optical tensor components d15, d31, and d33 were determined. From the result that the absolute values of d15 and d31 are equal, we experimentally and theoretically demonstrate for the first time that FNLCs belong to the Cv point group and that Kleinman symmetry is satisfied.
