We have been developing the magneto-optical hydrogen sensors utilising optical interferences or surface plasmon resonances. In this study, the influences of hydrogen exposure on the perpendicular magnetic properties in magneto-optical interference (cavity) elements composed of [Pt/CoPt/AZO/Ag] multilayers were investigated. As a result, the magnetic properties were depended on the hydrogen concentration. This is presumed to result from changes in the electronic state at the CoPt/AZO interface due to hydrogen permeation into the multilayers.
