Although PLZT optical modulators have been demonstrated to operate at 200 GBd, the physical properties of PLZT at high frequencies and the details of the transmission line design based on them have not been clarified. In this study, we have clarified the dielectric function of PLZT, which is necessary for high-frequency design, and we report the design of a PLZT optical modulator with a new structure that can achieve broadband EO response characteristics based on transmission line theory.
