Metamaterials, whose research began in the early 2000s, have recently seen a surge in application-driven studies approaching practical implementation, particularly in Europe and the United States, supported by rapid advances in micro- and nanofabrication technologies. This symposium will invite leading researchers at the forefront of the field—covering not only optical components such as metalenses, but also biosensing, imaging, optical communications, light sources, and two-dimensional materials—to share the latest research results and to discuss future directions, including the launch of academia–industry collaborative projects.
