Title: Report on the Inspection of Afghanistan (Dr. Tetsu Nakamura's Waterworks Project in Afghanistan and Its Aftermath)
Summary: Dr. Tetsu Nakamura, who was shot dead in Afghanistan in December 2019, devoted himself to the reconstruction support of Afghanistan based on the idea that "one irrigation canal is better than a hundred clinics." He constructed nine irrigation facilities including weirs, intake facilities, sedimentation basins, irrigation canals, and drainage canals on the large Kunar River (a tributary of the Indus River). Since 2022, I have visited Afghanistan ten times to inspect the irrigation facilities built under Dr. Nakamura's "Afghan Green Land Project" and have been supporting subsequent irrigation projects in cooperation with local PMS technicians trained by him. This report introduces Dr. Nakamura's water management projects and provides a field inspection report on how the irrigation project "Afghan Green Land Project (Chapter 2: Watershed Reservoir)" has been advanced after his passing.
