The 75th Conference of the Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences

Chair of the Organizing Committee

Kaori Yamaguchi

The Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences is undertaking various projects to achieve the goal of “Striving to promote and increase the popularity of physical education/health and sport sciences while contributing to the achievement of individual happiness and a fair, equitable, and inclusive society through various activities involving physical education, sport, and health.” Holding academic conferences is listed as the first of these projects in the articles of incorporation, making it the most important. The 75th conference will be held in August 2025 at the Nippon Sport Science University under the theme of “Rethinking the Value of Sciences and Cultures Related to the Human Body: Carving a Future for the Next Generation.”

Factors such as the reduction in physical activity due to the establishment of remote working practices since the COVID-19 pandemic and the advancement of technology, such as AI, are significantly affecting people’s minds and bodies. On the other hand, even with these social changes, physical education and sport science are expected to play a more important role than ever before. Therefore, we are aiming for a conference with forward-thinking scientific discussions about the value of health science and culture.

The conference will also be a venue for the participants to present and discuss their research. Many attendees from both Japan and overseas will gather at the Nippon Sport Science University for the conference, and we are preparing for scientific discussions and an exchange of opinions. We are looking forward to everyone’s attendance to make the 75th conference a successful one.

This year, we are holding the 75th conference of the Japan Society of Physical Education, Health, and Sport Sciences at the Setagaya Campus of the Nippon Sport Science University in Tokyo. The main theme of the 75th conference will be “Rethinking the Value of Sciences and Cultures Related to the Human Body: Carving a Future for the Next Generation.” In our current modern world, science and technology have a decisive impact on both the sport and physical education field. Under these circumstances, the theme of this conference was decided by discussing with the planning committee and board of directors that the essence of physical education, sport science, and health science is to elucidate the natural state of the human body and recognize the value of the culture and science of the human body.

The venue at the Setagaya Campus in Tokyo is easily accessible from Shin-Yokohama Station, JR Shibuya Station, and Ebisu Station. The classrooms, grounds, and gymnasium at the campus are brimming over with the energy of approximately 4,000 students studying physical education, sport, and health sciences. This venue will host symposiums and general research presentations over three days, during which topics regarding headquarters planning, specialized committees, and applied research committees will be covered.
The executive committee is making preparations to ensure that this will be a significant conference for all the participants. We are looking forward to many people attending the conference.
