Proposal for the Introduction of a New Subject, "Health Science" in Primary and Secondary Education

日本の主要な健康課題である「生活習慣病」は、よりよい生活習慣を個人が選択することで予防可能という特性を有する疾患群について、その予防可能性という概念に着目し行政的に用いられはじめた名称であり、一般にも広く浸透している。<br>その一方、生活習慣の選択やその健康影響には社会的要因が大きく関わっていること、また「生活習慣病」の遺伝的要因や環境要因についての理解も大きく進んだことも相まって、導入当初より認識されていた個人の責任を過度に強調することの弊害も、改めて指摘されるようになっており、用語改訂に関する議論も高まっている。<br>「生活習慣病」と重複する疾患群を含む用語として、海外ではNon-communicable Diseases (NCDs)という用語が用いられることが多い。しかし、その用語の適切性に関する議論は国内外でもほとんどない。用語の問題も、今後の生活習慣病・NCDs対策を、より適切な形でまた効果的に推進するとう観点から社会全体で議論していく必要がある。本シンポジウムでは、用語に係る学際的な議論のオーバービューと今後のNCDs対策について水野氏から、多職種でのライフコースを通した生活習慣支援について宮地氏よりご講演頂く。また、学校教育におけるヘルスリテラシー教育のあり方について片山氏からご講演頂き、今後のNCDs対策について考える機会としたい。
