東北大学多元物質科学研究所と住友金属鉱山株式会社は、2018年に共同研究部門を立ち上げ、啓発活動と非鉄金属製錬研究を軸として活動し、大きな成果をあげた。共同研究部門は2023年に第二期を迎え、啓発活動の幅を広げ、新たな研究テーマを設定し、引き続き国内非鉄製錬業の持続的発展への貢献を目的として活動を行う。本企画セッションでは、第二期啓発活動の提案、共同研究テーマの紹介、成果の報告を行い、今後の展開について議論する。
