[3LS-05]Facilitating Global Collaboration in Computational Neuroscience: Accelerating the Future of Neuroscience through CRCNS

Sat. Jul 26, 2025 12:00 PM - 12:50 PM JST
Sat. Jul 26, 2025 3:00 AM - 3:50 AM UTC
Room 5 (301B)
Chairperson: Hideki Kashioka (The Center for Information and Neural Networks (CiNet) , the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) )
Co-sponsored by National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)
The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) supports International Collaborative R&D in Brain Information and Communication Technology through the Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience (CRCNS) program, under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). This program is offered as part of the "NICT Commissioned Research on R&D of Advanced Communications and Broadcasting."
Based on bilateral Japan-U.S. projects, the CRCNS Program promotes international collaborative research across a broad range of computational neuroscience fields, in cooperation with France, Germany, and Israel through a joint research framework. The program offers highly attractive funding support, providing annual research grants of ¥10 - 25 million (including indirect costs) for a period of three years.
In this seminar, we will provide an overview of the CRCNS program. In addition, Professor YOSHIMURA Natsue of Institute of Science Tokyo, who previously led an international collaborative research project under this program as a Principal Investigator, will share her experience and give a talk about the benefits of participating in CRCNS-funded international collaboration research.
