This work presents a coplanar strip-line Mach-Zehnder modulator with shallow-etched waveguides, achieving a microwave attenuation of 2.55 dB/mm at 40 GHz and competitive electro-optic bandwidth, outperforming capacitive-loading modulators with a fivefold increase in density.
