19th Frontier Pharmaceutics to be Explored by Young Scientists ~Pioneering the Future with Unique Drug Discovery Modalities~

Fri. Mar 29, 2024 9:45 AM - 11:45 AM JST
Fri. Mar 29, 2024 12:45 AM - 2:45 AM UTC
[Room 418] Conference Center 418 (4F)
Organizer: Taishi Higashi (Grad. Sch. Pharm. Sci., Kumamoto Univ.), Tomoyuki Okuda (Meijo Univ.)
In recent years, drug discovery modalities have diversified from small molecules to biopharmaceuticals such as proteins and nucleic acids. It has been pointed out that Japan has lagged behind in the development of biopharmaceuticals, and there is an urgent need to turn the tide with next-generation drug discovery modalities (cellular preparations, digital drugs, genome editing technology, etc.). On the other hand, Japan has pioneered original innovations and introduced many inventions in such fields as electronics and culture. Now is the time to make preparations to create a bright future through unique innovations in pharmaceuticals. In this symposium, five researchers engaged in the development of new drug discovery modalities will speak from a different perspective and introduce their mindsets, strategies, and research to develop novel drugs. Specifically, we would like to build a foothold to create future drug discovery modalities from a completely new perspective by introducing examples of effective utilization of plastics, pharmaceutical additives, supermolecules, and intestinal bacteria as pharmaceuticals. We hope that this symposium will provide hints for creating a bright future.
