Considering Neurodiversity in Asia

Co-hosted by: Human behavioral science for subjectification(&ldquo;tojisha-ka&rdquo;)[B01]

The growing recognition of developmental disorders as a form of neurodiversity and the consideration of appropriate support strategies is attracting attention. When conducting research on developmental disorders, the perspectives of people with lived experience and framework of neurodiversity are becoming increasingly important. First, we will introduce the trend of participatory research and the neurodiversity perspective as the social model. Then, from the perspective as an autistic person, we will address the issue of epistemic injustice when autistic people are involved in research. We will also introduce ways to prevent researchers from unintentionally harming people with developmental disorders. Finally, after suggesting how neurodiversity perspectives should be considered in biological and medical research, we will have a comprehensive discussion.
