It has been reported that the use of a hole-assisted fiber (HAF) structure enables a reduction in Rayleigh scattering loss while maintaining optical compatibility—specifically regarding cutoff wavelength and bending loss—with general-purpose single-mode fiber (SMF) compliant with ITU-T Recommendation G.652. In this study, we fabricated a reduced-core HA-SMF and investigated the mode field diameter (MFD) expansion effect and its wavelength dependence.
